S.EE Launches File Sharing: Direct Download Links Without the Friction
S.EE File Sharing lets you upload any file and instantly get a clean, direct download link — no landing pages, no ads, no redirects. Here's everything that's included in the new feature.
We're excited to announce the launch of S.EE File Sharing, a new way to upload files and share them with clean, direct download links that just work.
If you've ever uploaded a file to a hosting service only to send someone a link that leads to a waiting page, a countdown timer, or a wall of ads, you know how frustrating that experience is. S.EE File Sharing was built to fix exactly that.
What is S.EE File Sharing?
S.EE File Sharing lets you upload any file, documents, images, archives, videos, audio, and instantly receive a short, memorable URL that links directly to the file. No landing pages. No captchas. No redirects. When someone clicks your link, they get the file. That's it.

Links look like this: fs.to/pdf-demo: clean, shareable, and easy to embed anywhere.
Why we built this
File sharing sounds simple, but most solutions get in the way. Shared storage links are long and messy. Free hosting services interrupt downloads with ads. And many platforms don't give you a true direct link at all, just a page with a big download button.
S.EE File Sharing is built around one principle: your link should go straight to the file. Whether you're embedding it in a README, sharing it in a chat, or using it in an API call, the link works immediately without any friction for the person on the other end.
How it works

Getting a file link takes about four steps. Go to your dashboard and click Sharing → Files in the left sidebar, or navigate directly to s.ee/user/files/. Drag and drop your file into the upload area, or click to browse — you can also upload entire folders. Once the upload completes, you'll receive two links: a share page link (e.g. fs.to/your-slug) that's customizable with your own domain and slug, and a direct download link that goes straight to the file with the original filename and no intermediate pages. From there, paste the link anywhere — a README, an email, a chat message, or an API call — and recipients get the file immediately.
For more control over how your link looks, use the Create File button instead. This lets you set a custom slug, choose a domain, add tags, configure an expiration date, or add password protection before the upload begins.
Key features
True direct links: Every file you upload gets a short URL that downloads the file directly, with the original filename intact. No intermediate pages, no ads, no waiting.
Resumable uploads: Large file uploads are handled with resumable transfer technology. If your connection drops mid-upload, you pick up right where you left off instead of starting over from scratch.
Global CDN: Files are served from edge locations around the world, so your downloads are fast no matter where your audience is located.
No download limits: There are no caps on the number of times a file can be downloaded, and no bandwidth throttling.
API access: Upload files programmatically via the S.EE API. Automate uploads from scripts, applications, or CI/CD pipelines and get direct links without any manual steps.
Dashboard management: See all your uploads in one place, copy links, and manage files from your S.EE account.
Who is it for?
S.EE File Sharing is useful for developers hosting release binaries, config files, or documentation assets with direct links that work in READMEs and wikis; content creators sharing downloadable templates, resources, or media files with their audience; teams and businesses distributing documents and assets to partners or clients with professional short URLs; and anyone who needs to share a file and wants the recipient to actually get it without jumping through hoops.

Official domains
S.EE File Sharing supports a range of official short domains including fs.to, files.to, fileshare.to, and filesharing.to. You can also connect your own custom domain for branded share page links. Note that direct download links currently use a fixed format and do not support custom domains — only the share page URL does.
Conclusion
File sharing is one of those things that should have been solved a long time ago. The technology is simple — upload a file, get a link, share it. But somewhere along the way, the experience got buried under ads, waiting pages, and friction that serves no one except the platform running it.
S.EE File Sharing gets back to basics. A file, a link, and nothing in between. Whether you're sharing a single document with a client or distributing assets across a development pipeline, the experience is the same: fast, clean, and reliable.
This is just the beginning for file sharing on S.EE. If you have feedback or features you'd like to see, we'd love to hear from you.

Frequently asked questions
What makes S.EE different from other URL shorteners?
S.EE is a full link management platform — not just a shortener. You get advanced analytics, A/B testing, QR code generation, text sharing, file hosting with direct download links, and custom domains all in one place. Every plan includes API access, so you can automate and integrate S.EE into your workflow.
Can I change where a short link points after I create it?
Yes. You can update the destination URL of any short link at any time from your dashboard. This works for standard links and A/B test variants. Changes take effect immediately.
Does S.EE track clicks and provide analytics?
Yes. Every link, QR code, file, and text share comes with click analytics. You can see total clicks, unique visitors, referrers, countries, devices, and more. All plans retain analytics data for 1 year. Enterprise plans support custom retention periods.
What is smart routing?
Smart routing lets you send visitors to different destinations based on rules like their country, device type, language, or time of day. It's useful for geo-targeted campaigns, device-specific landing pages, and scheduled promotions.
Can I use my own domain for short links?
Yes. All paid plans support custom domains. Lite supports 1 domain, Pro supports 5, Premium supports 10, and Enterprise supports unlimited custom domains. To connect your domain:
- Go to Settings → Custom Domains in your S.EE dashboard.
- Click Add Domain and enter your domain name (e.g.
go.yourbrand.com). - Add the DNS records shown (typically a CNAME or A record) at your domain registrar.
- Wait for DNS propagation (usually a few minutes to a few hours).
- Once verified, you can select your domain when creating new short links, QR codes, or file shares.
Custom domains work across URL shortening, QR codes, text sharing, and file share pages. Note that direct file download links (i.see.you/...) currently do not support custom domains — only the share page URL does.
What are the file size and storage limits per plan?
| Plan | Max File Size | Total Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Lite | 100 MB | 100 GB |
| Pro | 1 GB | 500 GB |
| Premium | 5 GB | 5 TB |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
Files are stored permanently while your subscription is active. If your subscription expires, files are retained for 7 days before deletion. There are no limits on the number of times a file can be downloaded.
Is there a free plan?
There is no permanently free plan. File sharing, URL shortening, QR codes, and all other S.EE features require a paid subscription. All paid plans are available on monthly or yearly billing — yearly plans offer a significant discount.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. You can change your plan at any time from Settings → Billing in your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
Does S.EE offer a yearly discount?
Yes. Switching to yearly billing saves approximately 16% compared to paying monthly. The yearly prices are Lite at $59.99/yr, Pro at $199.99/yr, and Premium at $1,999.99/yr.
